loans in canada for bad credit

I realize the balance should be $0 since the account was sold to a CA.
We were behind several pymts on our mortgage. We rec'd an offer from a buyer, and the next day we rec'd a letter from an attorney rep. our mortgage co., stating that we were entering f/c. We closed on the sale of our home within 3 weeks, before any further f/c procedures were done. Our CRs state: f/c started; one states paid f/c. Is this a f/c or not? We didn't think it was, only that it was initiated.
When we got our car last year, we got stuck with 14.9% Ouch..so, now that the BK's are done, I've been really thinking about refinancing.
I would hate for your score to get hit harder by this.
